I don't know who wrote this email fwd. I just received, but I thought I would share it with you all.
What do you think?

Like a lot of folks in this state, I have a job. I work, they pay me. I pay my taxes and the government distributes my taxes as it sees fit. In order to get that paycheck, I am
required to pass a random urine test with which I have no problem.

What I do have a problem with is the distribution of my taxes to people who don't have to pass a urine test.  Shouldn't one have to pass a urine test to get a welfare check because I have to pass one to earn it for them?

Please understand, I have no problem with helping people get back on their feet. I do , on the other hand, have a problem with helping someone sitting n their BUTT, doing drugs, while I work. . . . Can you imagine how much money the state would save if people had to pass a urine test to get a public assistance check? Pass this along if you agree

Becky,

Because we have been manipulated by others self serving beliefs and agendas and forced to take a test that CAN NOT show if a person is or is not under the influence of drugs, just to feed our families why would we want to spread this abuse of freedom?

Did you know there IS NOT a UA that can tell if a person is under the influence of drugs! So how utterly dishonest is it claim it is for work place safety??? How does knowing a person smoked a joint "" 90 DAYS "" ago stop ignorance from happening today??? The reality is due to this disgusting violation of freedoms, our workers have been forced to HARD DRUGS that are out of their system in 3 days. So how was this a good thing? If your employer can dictate what you do off the clock, then why doesn't he pay you 24/7? Didn't slavery go out about 200 years ago, or do we still owe our souls and now our PEE to the company store??? What happened to a fair days for fair wages, and everybody minded their own business?

The reality is the UA is used to deny and escape liability and accountability while dropping insurance rates. Those who claim they have no problem with this abuse of freedom, sold out.

Now as for welfare, those who work and pay for it want it used for food and things that are needed, not for self pleasure if it be alcohol or drugs, right. Do we want to force people to hard drugs in attempt to achieve an unattainable goal?? What happens to those that we have manipulated in to believing they are demons and not worthy of helping, unless they live their lives as we see fit? What happens to the kids who h

Do we want to force people to hard drugs in attempt to achieve an unattainable goal?? What happens to those that we have manipulated in to believing they are demons and not worthy of helping, unless they live their lives as we see fit? What happens to the kids who have NO CHOICE??

Are these people going to quit eating and surviving, are they going to let their kids starve? Does anybody REALLY think ALL of them will go get a job? Better yet what jobs are out there for these people? Be careful what we ask for! I believe a wrong move here and crime will go through the roof! Hungry people are not reasonable people, and do what it takes to eat and survive!

There has got to be away to help people, while teaching them how to help themselves. But to simple deny people from making a living or from being helped because they make private and personal choices OFF THE CLOCK, HAS NOT WORKED!

I for one would like to see a work program for those getting help, maybe the number of hours worked tied to the amount of help needed or the number of kids one has? And I would do away with the UA period, it isn't used for what it was intended, and causes more problems. If you have supervisors at work who can't tell a worker is possibly messed up, YOU NEED MORE EDUCATED supervision! But you don't need everybody else’s pee, nor control over their private lives!

Rusty, I have to take exception with some of the phrasing you use. "These people"? I too believe there should be a better way to monitoring welfare recipients checks, Lonestar cards, or whatever you want to call it. Anyone can better their life if they so choose. Maybe it is too easy to stay on welfare, maybe welfare money does go into drugs instead of buying children food and clothing. You obviously never saw the article the young teen in California wrote to win a contest. the contest was "There ought to be a law." He was in a position to know and even he feels that welfare needs drug testing or better monitoring of some sort. When we are "giving" someone welfare you bet we have the right to monitor how it is spent.

Rusty,
Those on welfare have obviously lost control over their private lives, so I do not understand what your objection is to testing them for drugs. If you want to throw money into an endless hole, go ahead and make a donation. Yet when it is our money, that of the American taxpayer, shouldn't there be some accountability? It's bad enough we are paying for all of the adventures of our government without knowing all of the facts, isn't it? You want no accountability at all?
Being on welfare doesn't make you less of a human being, yet it is an endless hole in that given the opportunity, many will (and are) abuse the system.

When I was growing up my mother got food stamps to help feed me and my 4 brothers and sisters, she also worked as much as possible to support us, my father was out of the picture and not paying his child support. She didn't live off the system, she got help for what she needed and made a life for herself and us, she got off welfare when she was able to pay the bills on her own which incl. a mortgage that she alone paid.

I also know someone (my ex sister in law) who used welfare to sit on her lazy azz all day and do nothing, she took the money, housing etc. had a boyfriend living with her who worked and dealt drugs and help pay the very very low rent. She abused the system.

My point, yes, they do need to monitor welfare recipients, do surprise home visits to see what is going on etc. There are good people who need it to give them a leg up and then there are people who just live off OUR money.

Drug testing the hair folicles is one way to test for all drugs I believe and if that's what needs to be done because of all the dirtbags who abuse the system than so be it, blame them not the american people who don't want to support the lazy.

Illegals should have NO rights to welfare, they are not citizens and do not deserve the benefits of a citizen, get a freakin' visa/green card and start giving back instead of taking. Or go back to that corrupt country that they love so much.

They should be told that welfare is temporary and that they are expected to find jobs, I'd rather see the money they take from us go towards day care. There should be a limited amount of time that a person is allowed to collect welfare checks, this will force the system leaches to do something with their lives instead of watching soaps and eating twinkees all day!
If the government was ever to get it's sh^& together, this country would be a richer place, we'd all be better off for it!

City Mouse, you made some valid points. One point in particular was that your Mom got off welfare as soon as she could support her family, which is the way it should be. I, too, believe that welfare should have a time limitation except in extenuating circumstances. I hear that part of the problem is that people can make more money having children, having no father present than going to work. People have to want better for themselves and have to have some pride. Yes, day care is expensive, and maybe that is an area that could change. Welfare abuse is rampant and needs to be overhauled.

Debby, and All,

I have NO PROBLEM holding people accountable for using the money for what it was intended.:) How ever I do have a BIG problem for using a failed policy as an excuse to take and violate more of our Freedoms.

"" IF "" a person uses the money for welfare correctly and does not abuse it in any way. And they pay for their private and personal choices while harming no other’s and by other legal means. Should they and the children be thrown in the gutter, for simply the Adult making choice others don't like?

If we have the right to force our way in to their homes, and demand they live as we see fit. Then why can't your employer do it to your HOME as well? Or does one give up their freedoms and rights in their time of need or to have a job??? That why this is far trickery than it looks.

There are NO DOUBT leaches abusing the system, and they need to be held accountable for this abuse. But this is not " YET " a communist country! Every time things are done and laws are passed for our supposed own good, WE NEVER GET TO VOTE ON THESE LAWS, WHY? And every time it leads to more lose of freedoms for us all! I say again be careful what this will lead to!!!

I am all for accountability, "" BUT "" not at the cost of becoming a communist nation!:(

Valid point, yet I think you are missing the issue.
The issue isn't the passing of any laws which will curb our freedoms (we are all against that, I hope). The issue is whether those who have voluntarily given up the right to control their own life have any claim or excuse to abuse the system.
Giving a welfare recipient a drug test is not the same as being able to storm their house. Not even close. There is no slippery slope here. It is merely to avoid abuse of the system. Ask yourself this:
Why should those getting money from the government be excluded from the laws we taxpayers have to follow and the guidlines we must live by?
I am subject to random drug tests at my job and that does not give my employer the right to do anything other than to make certain I am awake and aware while on my employers payroll. The same should be true of welfare recipients. If I do not want to subject myself to a drug test, then I have the choice to work somewhere else. If those on welfare do not want to be tested, they can choose not to be on welfare.
To say they are being singled out for any reason doesn't make sense. To say they are less than human for being subjected to the same thing we taxpayers have to endure does not make sense. Either it's a level playing field or it isn't.

so I write this big reply and then it asks me to log in, even though it showed I already was..then my post is gone..thatn's just annoying.
Anyway, I agree with Delusion, this is not the same as "storming" into their homes.
Some divorced parents who have had drug and alcohol issues are forced by the court to submit to drug testing before they are allowed to spend time with their children.
A person on welfare being asked to do random drug testing is not that much different. Do you think the kids are better off living with their drunk or drugged up parent who used their welfare money for drugs etc.?
The kids would be better off if their parents are required drug testing, many parents would do what's best for their children and stay off the drugs, if they can't do that then they don't deserve the welfare or custody of their children. Believe me, the kids would be better off if we weren't paying taxes to support their parents drug habits.

I knew a guy who took custody of 4 boys who were living with their mother who was a drug addict, one of the kids found her drugs laying around and ended up in the hospital. She collected welfare, food stamps etc. Those kids are better off without her.

Delusion,

Every time we give the government power they abuse it. Are you old enough to remember how it went with seat belt laws? First EVERYBODY had a choice as all those public servants swore they would NEVER by themselves be a reason for being stopped, RIGHT! Next it went to, if your stopped for something else, and don't have it on, then you can get a ticket. "" NOW "" their TRUE intentions are a LAW, it is a 200 DOLLAR fine, and used to EVENT probable cause!

DID YOU GET TO VOTE ON THESE FORCED UA LAWS, "" I DIDN'T "" ! If your FORCED to take a test to have a job, and this test CAN NOT tell or PROVE if you are under the influence, how does that guarantee anything, much less make sure one is a wake or aware??? One can be HIGH and take a UA, and it still CAN NOT be used as proof that person is under the influence, FACT! Does it matter to you if a Free American drank two beer "" 90 DAYS AGO ""? Another sad reality is, people can do HARD DRUGS, and pee in anybodies bottle 3 days later. So if your going to make choices other don't like, and want to keep feeding your family, which one have you been FORCED to, to minimize your chance of losing your job??? You say go work some where else, so you believe those with money that a worker trades their sweat, blood and many times their lives, can have that job, as long as they are willing to SUBJUGATE themselves to the beliefs of others on and “”off “” the clock 24/7 364 days a year??? When insurance companies control the rates, and the government DEMANDS the loss of your Freedoms, to feed your family, Individual Freedoms are no longer a reality “” BUT “” UNAMERICAN powers to subjugate others IS LAW!

Your Freedoms and Liberties are not being taken in plain sight, they are in fact taken in small “” STEPS “” by calculated and intent, using seemingly just and for our own protection.

What happened to a nation built on Freedoms and Individual responsibility? You know where each American is held accountable for their own actions, not the taught fear mongering biases and bigotry of those with self serving beliefs and agendas, " OR " ignorance of others??

To One and All,

Are you people of faith? If so is not the "" AMIGHTY "" all knowing and never wrong or to be over ruled my man? So you believe " HE " doesn't have the right nor smarts to decide who he has granted LIFE TO?? And that man can STEAL his gift of children to the ones " HE " chose to give them to? Simply for using a plant that " HE " can only create, and that " HIS " teaching say are a GIFT TO ALL???

Sadly I must say you are a product of YEARS of fear mongering and mind conditioning. To the point all those who make choices you have been taught to fear and hate, are DEMONS not worthy of having "" GODS "" gift of life!!! It is a FAR REACH between abusing children, and simply making personal and private choices other are taught and conditioned to fear and hate or simply don't like!

Are there times the safety of children are REAL reasons to protect them, YOU BET! But to do so simply because they make choice others don't like while harming NO ONE, will bring the RATH OF THE "" ALMIGHTY "" on judgment day! I for one don't believe " HE " is going to do good, with man claiming he is to stupid to decide who should have children, much less accepting man claiming sole possession over the gifts only " HE " can create, and then using them as weapons against his flock, to the point of destroying families!!!

IMHO, "" ALL "" who have been taught with fear and hate, to the point they believe they have the right to over rule the "" ALMIGHY "", will one day pay, and rightfully so! Why don’t you go ahead and take the children from those who simply make the choices

OH, that’s right DRUGIES ARE DEMONS, they can’t possibly have any accidents in their homes like EVERY other home in America, THEY INTENTIONALL HARM THEIR KIDS! The real problem is the THC test. We can all go around and around about what's fair and not fair but if you stop and think for a moment the test is a violation of our rights in the first place. THC has never killed anyone but cocaine has. It's all about governmental control once again and set up by our endless health insurance standards. I'm not speaking up for the dummies that toke before work but the people that do like to have an occasional off the clock smoke can no longer do so without risking their jobs. I think it stinks personally and will never budge on this one. Just another way to peek in our bedrooms without actually being there!

I guess she hit a nerve. In the corporate world they stick you with a needle and delve back a lot further than a lousy 3 days. I can't tell you how many people I know that have lost their jobs over this. I'm not talking about uneducated people either, but intelligent and well respected people. I don't know about you but I've never heard of anyone blowing their brains out coming off pot. Our wonderful world however is filled with mindless robots on antidepressant drugs and pain meds while driving to work! These timebombs can go off any time anywhere and we're worried about a joint on someone's off time? Oh brother....

Once again people are getting a bit too anal about a simple idea. I think the email (which I have received several times) Is mainly stating how unfair it is for hard working people who must endure the testing for drug use in order to have a job that takes taxes out and gives them to others that may be using drugs. People who might be getting welfare checks while doing drugs. Those people try to get a job but fail due to drug use. If the tests were mandatory for people getting welfare, they could deny them the money for illegal drugs in their systems. That would make them stop using them and actually get a job like everyone else who has to abide by the RULES!
Sounds fair to me!

Red-Dog1,

If you choose to give up your freedoms, I feel for you. You DO NOT have the right to speak for me nor give up anybody else’s freedoms. PERIOD! What happens to the children of those you throw in the gutter for simply making choice you or I wouldn't? Why is it ANYBODIES business what one does OFF THE CLOCK? Do you really accept others controlling your life and body?

Simple steps lead to an accumulation of hidden agendas! Things are not always as they appear, “” Simple supposed well meaning laws, are pieced together into HUGE TYRANNIES “! I guess you would accept those who worked all their lives and paid into Social Security, to be denied it after retiring too?? What an easy way for these political parasites to SOVEL the problem right! BECAREFUL WHAT YOU ASK FOR!!!

I'm not off topic....."how unfair it is for hard working people who must endure the testing for drug use" You said it right here. This is my point, we shouldn't have to endure it in the first place. The reason Becky is complaining is probably due to the fact she feels controlled by someone else and is looking for a suddle way to express her animosity.
