Gas keeps going up because we are not the only country in the world that is using it. Those countries are certainly not demanding less.

There was a time when we Americans could slow (or seriously cut back) our usage of petroleum and really affect the demand on the market. But, that time is over. mspurlin is correct. China, India, and other countries have seriously escalated their consumption of petroleum over the last 10-15 years and they aren't showing any signs of slowing down.

This means we here in the U.S. aren't the big kid on the block anymore when it comes to controlling supply and (more importantly) demand. It will have to get SO bad in EVERY fossil fuel using country that demand is cut back - This is the only way demand can change at this point.

I'm afraid we here in the U.S. are in for some very drastic sociological and societal changes in the near future (the way we work, play, go to school, everything) as a result of energy costs. And, more specifically, fossil fuel costs. The way we HAVE done things on a daily basis may be a thing of the past - Things will be different from now on ... rest assured of that...

I have a suggestion, raise the pay for Americans by voting Fair Tax and give them back their hard earned tax Dollars so they can afford to keep up.
