For Dennis de la Pena:  Your pick the other day turned out to be the right one-the 'Boys persevered amid the chaos (below) in the game against the Eagles. Now if they can just get past the Giants and Redskins, i think they'll possibly make it to the playoffs. And yes Dennis, Romo has kept his head and his cool after the big contract-gotta love him for that.

For Mike Rosen:  I didn't catch the hit on the Texans' Staub the other day-sorry, but diehard 'Boys fan here-couldn't care less about the Texans unless Dallas ever meets them in the Super Bowl.

Mike Rosen's blog about that hit does bring me to my point about the game with the Cowboys and Eagles though. It's always tough enough to play in Philly, with the out of control fans they have up there. But, I have to say that there were two shots on the 'Boys that should have been called, and I'm sure when the league refs review the tapes, these players will be fined. The first was the hit on Julius Jones after he was already immobilized on the ground, and got hit helmet to helmet by a defender. That cheap shot, just as the announcers said, should have been an automatic ejection from the game. I was really surprised that it wasn't called. The second cheap shot came when Jason Whitten was hit helmet to helmet-the ref said no foul because he wasn't up in the air-? What? Helmet to helmet is just that-cause for a penalty, and besides the second defender on that play ripped his helmet off by pulling on part of the face gear to yank it off. I don't get these no-call refs on these two plays. Both of these hits were uncalled for and should be reviewed for fines levied against the defending players. I can't wait for week 15 when they meet up again, maybe the 'Boys can get some sweet revenge by sweeping the Eaglets. Keep it rolling, 'Boys.

BTW- I would have been upset about the Eagle player not being ejected for the hit on Jones had it been any other team. Same with the no foul call on Whitten. Had these hits been in a game with any two teams, they were still viscious, illegal hits.

CowboysFan:
I expect NFL Commish Roger Goodell to remind his officials that the PLAYERS are the NFL's most important commodity... and that they need to be protected. Clean hits are violent enough... cheap shots are downright dangerous.

As for this week's game with the G-Men? Check my newest "Crazy for the Cowboys" blog for my thoughts.

I went to check my hotmail on MSN, and there was a headline on the Fox Sports webpage about the NFL telling officials to start ejecting these players for brutal helmet to helmet hits. The supervisor for officials, Mike Pereira, reported on this. The hit two weeks ago on Texans QB Schaub by Chargers CB Drayton Florence only levied a $15,000 fine. 'Skins S Laron Landry was fined $16,764 for the hit on Jets QB Kellen Clemens. And Eagles' LeJuan Ramsey was fined $21,176 for the vicious hit on Julius Jones while he was on the ground. There was no mention of the hit on Jason Whitten, when he was blindsided helmet to helmet by one defender as another defender took his helmet off on the same hit. ???

I have lived in Austin since 1972, and have seen it grow and change, not always for the better. I remember being able to drive from South Austin to Georgetown in a matter of minutes, and how friendly it used to be. Now days, I'd rather stay out in the country to stay away from the traffic, the entitlement and me-first attitude, and self-serving city government that has taken over our city. The problem with that is the ratrace is coming out toward me.
