The recent UFO sightings around Texas have me wondering if the people who see what they've seen really believe their eyes or do they just want to believe there has to be intelligent life somewhere else in the universe?

then tell me what you see and explain why you do not think it could be possible?

Read closely. I never say I don't believe what was in the sky couldn't have been a UFO. I would've like to have been there to see it for myself. I personally believe there has to be other intelligent life out there. There's so much we don't know about the human body, let alone what we don't know about the entire universe.

From what we know about how the world works, I think there's a good chance there's other intelligent life "out there." But "out there" is a very, very, long way from "here," and consequently I think it's very, very unlikely they've visited. The distances involved are staggeringly vast: the way we can send astronauts around our solar system does not scale to hundreds or thousands of light years, and much as we might dream about "warp drive" and such, shortcuts like that between the stars defy physics as we presently understand it.

I don't rule it out, but alien visitors are hardly the most parsimonious answer whenever you can't explain some visual phenomenon in the sky. I wish I could have seen the thing that's caused all this stir, also. Pity there are no pictures.

Turns out the Stephenville sightings might have been explained by a military report that two of its planes were in the area where people saw the unidentified objects flying. Still, sightings aside, I don't necessarily think that just because we don't see any proof of visits doesn't mean they aren't happening.

One could say the same thing about many other once-popular, fanciful beliefs; leprechauns, for example. It'd be such an extraordinary thing, we should require pretty strong evidence to convince us that it's probably happening. Until then I go with probably not...

True, but until I see stronger evidence to the contrary, I'm siding with the idea that intelligent life does exist. And while I don't necessarily think there are any frequent flyer programs from other parts of the universe, I think it's very possible we've been visited. If we knew more about the universe, I'd agree with you that more evidence is needed to support the belief that intelligent life exists and they've visited. I just don't think we know enough to rule it out.
