Why are there so many blobs on the radar, especially when it's NOT raining?  I get that question a lot.  The reality is it usually occurs when the radar is in "clear-air" mode. 

If you check out a loop of this type of return, you will notice…it sits still.

There’s generally no movement of the blobs.  It’s often the beam of the radar reflecting off the ground!  There are other non-precip events that show up on our local radar…including the BATS flying out from below the congress avenue bridge!  Want more?!
