Cold Morning!

Weather
Many locations saw their first freeze of the season this morning. Lows dropped between 24 and 29 over the Hill Country, and between 29 and 32 along and east of I-35. About the only place that escaped a freeze was around the heart of downtown Austin, with Camp Mabry recording a low of 36. Austin-Bergstrom International Airport had a record low of 26, shattering the old record of 29 set in 1970.
Temperatures should be a few degrees warmer tonight, but a light freeze is expected. Lows in most locations should drop between 29 and 34 degrees tonight.
Warmer weather is still expected for the rest of the week. No freezes are anticipated after tonight through next weekend. Two fronts are on the way to the area this week. A weak one arrives on Tuesday morning, and a slightly stronger one on Thursday. Neither front looks to bring any rain, but a mostly cloudy sky may develop Friday and last through next weekend. Highs will cool into the 60s on Friday, then back to near 70-75 next weekend.
Freeze Tonight

Weather
Get ready for a freeze tonight! Most of the Hill Country will see lows dropping between 24 and 29 degrees tonight, and between 30 and 32 along I-35 and eastward to Giddings and La Grange. Protect pets by keeping them warm, cover up or bring plants indoors, and if you live in the Hill Country, you may want to wrap outdoor pipes that are exposed to the weather.
After such a cold start tomorrow, a warming southwest wind kicks in by afternoon, and highs reach the upper 60s to near 70. After tomorrow, temps begin warming slowly and we should see only a few locations seeing near-freezing temps Monday morning. The threat for freezing weather ends after Monday.
Aside from the cold, no signs of any rain in the next week ahead. Mostly dry conditions are expected to continue.
Rainy, Stormy Monday

Weather
Unsettled weather is looking likely for this week... with the first round of rain and storms coming Monday. A cold front is on the way, and is being pushed along by an upper level storm system that will take aim on Texas. Showers and storms will start in the morning, moving from the Hill Country and across the I-35 corridor toward midday. There is the possibility for a few strong storms, with hail and gusty winds a possibility. Rain and storms should move east of the area tomorrow evening. Rain totals should average between a quarter and half an inch.
The front slowly drags across the area on Tuesday with another round of showers and storms. Rain chances should lower slightly for Wednesday and Thursday, ending Friday.
We are still on track for a windy and chilly weekend next weekend. Highs will be in the 60s, with maybe some freezing temperatures on Sunday morning! Skies should remain clear next weekend.
Rain on the Way?

It is looking more likely that we will finally get some rain next week. A series of storm systems look to be traveling further south into Texas next week favoring rain. Lately, the storm track has been too far north to bring much rain, so as each cold front came through, there was just not enough lift to get much organized rain going. Starting Monday, a series of storm systems begin approaching Texas from the west. We should see a rapid increase in moisture starting Sunday night, followed by a fairly strong storm system moving in from the west on Monday. With plenty of moisture in place, and this more southerly storm track, rain and storms will be a good bet Monday.
After that, the storm track remains in place for most of the rest of the week. Expect slight rain chances Tuesday and Wednesday, followed by another stronger disturbance with better chances of rain Thursday. Rain totals as this early stage could average around an inch for next week, but higher totals will be possible.
Highs will be in the 60s and 70s, with lows in the 50s next week. Colder weather is possible next weekend.
Mid-November Rain?

Weather
The drought and the dry pattern continue... and now we're looking as far ahead as possible with our computer forecast models to see when the next chance for rain might be.
We will see a cold front moving through Central Texas on Thursday, but it will not bring any rain. The storm system driving the front through will be passing well north of Texas, and this does not bode well for rain with the front.
There are some signs that around the middle or latter part of the week of November 10th, that a stronger, more southward-tracking storm system may push our way from the western US. This pattern could favor some rain for our area. Still a very long way off, and definitely not a sure thing... but worth mentioning in this time of needed rainfall.
Warm Start to November

Weather
A new month... and a warm start! Highs ran nearly 10 degrees above normal today with highs hitting the mid 80s. It looks like this warm pattern will continue for most of the first week of November. We are expecting another cold front around Thursday, and this should knock temperatures back down to near normal by next weekend. Still, no signs of any rain through at least next weekend!
