Bill Clinton still has it. Moments ago he gave a spirited speech that both united his par;ty behind Barack Obama and criticized the Republicans. You could feel the strength and energy of Bill Clinton's popularity and his influence eight years after he left office. Many convention attendees with floor passes couldn't get in because it was so packed.
One of Clinton's comments that drew the loudest applause was when he talked about the power of America's example rather than the example of our power. This was a direct hit on eight years of Republican leadership and premptive military action in Iraq. This kind of criticism is the most effective given the unpopularity of the Iraq War now.
Clinton held back tears when he started talking about being elected president in 1992. He said Republicans criticized him for being too young and inexperienced to lead the country, followed by "Sound familiar?" Clinton repeatedly reminded the audience that he believed Barack Obama was ready to lead and fulfilled his promise to unite the Democratic Party.
Newly named Vice Presidential candidate Joe Biden speaks at 8pm and has a tough act to follow.
A mostly symbolic process is taking place at the DNC right now. Each state delegation is announcing their selection for president. Once Barack Obama reaches the magic number of 2,210 he will officially become the presidential nominee for the Democratic Party, thus making history as the first African American Presidential Nominee.
The big question is will the party be unified behind Obama or will disgruntled Hillary Clinton supporters divide Democrats? Hillary has released her delegates to vote for Obama but the fear is enough of those delegates will refuse to do so.
As of 4:40pm, Obama had 1,549 delegates. Everyone seems to be waiting to see what Hillary's home state of New York will do. As one Fox Correspondent put it, expect to see some "Clinton Choreography".
Despite a convincing speech Tuesday night, questions still linger about whether Clinton really wants Obama to win the presidency. One former Clinton staffer told me "She doesn't want to have dinner with Obama, but she does want him to win."
Denver is all about the Democrats right now. Visitors are greeted with DNC signs from the moment they enter the city limits and on almost every street corner downtown you can find vendors peddling anything Obama. The main public gathering place is 16th Street where one opportunistic entrepreneur is driving a truck around downtown trying to sell plastic water bottles with Obama figurines inside. Anything for a buck right? And there's no doubt the DNC is a big money maker for a lot of people here in Denver.
But in this Obama Love Fest, there are also McCain supporters in Denver reminding everyone Obama is not the only game in town.
As I arrived in downtown Denver, a gang of motorcyclists started honking their horns. At first I thought I had cut someone off, but all the commotion had nothing to do with me and everything to do with McCain. These tough-looking guys and gals were holding anti Obama signs that read things like "Nobama" and "Change We Can't Believe In." Not exactly original slogans but they made their point.
That's not the only commotion outside the Pepsi Center. Protestors are having a field day with all eyes on Denver. Several protests are held daily and the subject matter focuses on everything from abortion to Hillary. Some protestors don't even have a reason, they're just here because they can be.
Despite those trying to cause chaos, law enforcement officers appear to be keeping things under control. But they don't get all the credit. I think the relative peace here is a testament to the American political system. We can disagree with each other without resorting to violence. Hopefully, I haven't spoken too soon.
Media marketing, how does it affect your life and the decisions you make? Maybe you received that text from Obama on his choice for V.P, or maybe you depend on internet, local, or national news to get your information. I think what surprises me is the amount of mass marketing that goes into politics.
I think it’s great that we have these avenues of information to help us in our everyday lives, this way we can keep on top of what’s happening 24/7. What bothers me though is that through Media.Polticians Democrats and republicans have learned to perfect the techniques of media manipulation.
For example Bill Clinton survived a personal scandal by vilifying the messenger-the reporters who in covered his sexual affair while in office. George W. Bush took the nation to war in Iraq with little public debate, thanks in part to a muzzled press. Lying is an art form in Washington. The pros call it spin. A better word for spin is propaganda. What is a lie? I have a simple definition. It is the product of any intent to deceive.
I feel this is how many politicians today are approaching media. They are not using social media tools to provide the public with more insight or better connection to government. Instead they are using these tools as a way to flash a smile and show the public how ‘new age’ their campaigns are. Politicians should only use social media to educate, not to sway votes. Like no time before politicians on every level have a chance to connect with the people they represent. I think they should take this opportunity to really reach the public, not just tell them how to vote.
The Democrat has announced his V.P. selection and the Republican will make his choice shortly. In the mean time the TV talking heads and the print media will bore we common folk to death with their mostly inane commentary. The cable folks are down to reruns of antique movies so thank goodness for my internet connection.
I keep my sense of humor and my sanity by visiting my foreign news sources via the internet most of whom address the United States method of selecting a political leader with a large slice of tongue in cheek.
My observation is that most U.S. citizens have made up their minds how they are going to cast their ballots and nothing short of WW lll will change them, if that.
The position of Vice President has always been that of a figure head with a few notable exceptions of the demise of the head honcho, and this election will likely be no exception.
I personally don’t care how many houses McCain has, nor what Obama’s lineage is, and I don’t believe that these factors should enter into the political equation.
By far the most pressing problem we have is our national economy and the abhorrent, drunken sailor on shore leave, fiscal mentality of our legislature, and we are not allowed to cast a vote on this.
Yes, I know we elect these folks and they are supposed to represent us, but dog gone it, they are by and large seemingly only interested in feathering their own political nest and to heck we we commoners.
Having written the above, I still don’t feel better, but perhaps I will have awakened some one who puts a sense of responsibility into making a run for an office, but, there I go, dreamin’ again.
March 5th 1770. The Boston Massacre....Crispus Attucks was not only the First American Martyr of the Revolution, he was also the Organizer and leader of the Crowd that confronted the British Soldiers at Boston that day. He was also the Formost in Resisting the British Soldiers and as a result the First one Killed.
In 1851 there was a Petition presented to the Massachusetts Legislature for the appropriation of Funds to build a Monument to the First American Martyr of the Revolution, Crispus Attucks. The Petition was denied.
On the 5th of March, 1776, Washington repaired to the intrenchments. "Remember," said he, "it is the 5th of March, and avenge the death of your brethren!"
The Battle of Bunker Hill
June 17th 1775, The Battle of Bunker Hill. Patriots after surronding the City of Boston, took up postions on the Charlestown Peninsula on top of Bunker Hill and Breed's Hill North of town across the Bay. During this battle between 1,500 American Patriots and 2,400 British Soliders took part. While the British did take both Hills they suffered Heavy losses. British casualties were about 1,150 killed and wounded, while the Patriots suffered 450 Killed and wounded.
But out of those who died 2 famous People were Killed in the Fighting. A Patriot named General Warren and a British Major of Marines Pitcarin. The Little known Hero is the Man who Killed Major Pitcarin was named Henry Hill. After the Battle he was was presented to General Washington for his heroic Fighting and the killing of the Major. In Pictures made of the Battle he was at First a Prominent Figure, but over time he has been forgotten and ingloriously left out.
Henry Hill also fought in the battles of Lexington, Brandywine, Monmouth, Princeton, and Yorktown. He died in Chilicothe, on the 12th of August, 1833, aged eighty years. He was buried with the honors of war and eventually forgotten to History.
Dorchester Heights
On March 4th, 1776 Boston. Washington received 59 Cannon from the Captured British fort of Ticondaroga. Overnight the Patriots Constructed Fortifications and installed the Cannon on the Heights overlooking Bristish occupied Boston. This move eventually led to the British evacutaion of Boston on March 17th, 1776. March 17 is celebrated as Evacuation Day in some Massachusetts communities.
But one Little known Hero is James Easton. James Easton, of Bridgewater, was one who participated in the erection of the fortifications on Dorchester Heights, under command of Washington. His talents were invaluable in the Construciton of the fortifications.
Mr. Easton was a manufacturing blacksmith, and his forge and nail factory, where were he also made edge tools and anchors, was extensively known, for its superiority of workmanship. Much of the iron work for the Tremont Theatre and Boston Marine Railway was executed under his supervision. Mr. Easton was self-educated. When a young man, stipulating for work, he always provided for chances of evening study. He was welcome to the business circles of Boston as a man of strict integrity, and the many who resorted to him for advice in complicated matters styled him "the Lawyer." His sons, Caleb, Joshua, Sylvanus, and Hosea, inherited his mechanical genius and mental ability.
Crossing of the Delaware
December 25th, 1776 Trenton. In a daring tactic, General Washington in the Dead of Winter decide to attack the town of Trenton. In the middle of the night and during a snow storm the Patriots crossed the Delaware River and then attacked the Hessian Mercenaries and British Troops occuping the Town. It was an absolute and complete Victory.
A Little known Hero was Oliver Cromwell. He enlisted in company commanded by Capt. Lowery, attached to the Second New Jersey Regiment, under the command of Col. Israel Shreve. He was at the battles of Trenton, Princeton, Brandywine, Monmouth, and Yorktown. Cromwell was brought up a farmer, having served his time with Thomas Hutchins, Esq., his maternal uncle. He was, for six years and nine months, under the immediate command of Washington, whom he loved affectionately. "His discharge "at the close of the war, was in Washington's own hand-writing, of which he was very proud, often speaking of it. He received, annually, ninety-six dollars pension. He lived a long and honorable life. He lost three sons and three daughters; had fourteen children who reached the age of maturity--seven sons and seven daughters. He saw his grand-children to the third generation. He was a man of strong natural powers--never chewed tobacco nor drank a glass of ardent spirit. He died, in the town of his birth, January 24th, 1853.
There is another little known Hero at the Crossing. Prince Whipple was a Body Guard to General Whipple of New Hampshire, who was an Aid to General Washington. In the Engraving done of the Night of December 25th 1776, Prince Whipple can be seen Proudly riding Horseback, next to General Washington and General Whipple. More Modern Artist's failed to add him to other renditions of that Glorious day.
Prince was beloved by all who knew him. He was the "Caleb Quotem" of Portsmouth, where. he died at the age of thirty-two, leaving a widow and children.
The Spy of Lafayette
One Little known hero is James Armistead Lafayette. James was a man who Volunteered his service to General Lafayette of the Continential Army. So impressed with this Man General Lafayette asked him to be a Spy. Upon agreeing to this task, he was able to get himself employed by the British General Cornwallis. Cornwallis was also so impressed by him that he in turn, asked him to spy for the British Army. So James Armistead started Feeding the British false information till the Surrender of General Cornwallis. So perfect was the Acting of James that not until Cornwallis met James in the Headquarters tent of General Lafayette, did his true identity and mission become known to him. James was so fond of General Lafayette that he took his last name as a sign of his loyalty and appreciation. The Service provided by James and the success of his mission was immeasurable to the success over Cornwallis.
Americans All..
What some of you may have already figured out is that not only are these American Heros. But they are American Heros that happen to be African American. The reason for not including this earlier, is because it matters little what the Color of their skin was. All that matters is that they are Heros, American Heros that fought for not only Our Liberty and Freedom, but their Liberty and the Freedom of Future Generations.
The Continential Army was so integrated by the end of the Revolutionary War, 1/4th of it was made up of African Americans. The United States would not see this kind of integration again for another 200 years.
These are not all of the Hero's of the American Revolution, there are many more of many different Races and Sexes. But the Fact that they Fought and many died for all of us.....is what matters.

Looks like the presidential campaign is heating up. Obama has released his first attack ad against John McCain. What's so interesting about this is, that it came out quick , almost the same day if I am not mistaken. McCain was asked about how many houses he owned and he didn't even know. It's seven. I think I would know if I owned seven houses. I talked to a political professor and he said the way McCain answered the question made him sound as if he was out of touch on, how rich is rich?
Soon we will know who they both have picked for the Vice Pres seat. It will be interesting. Especially with the talk of Joe Liberman being rumored as a maybe for McCains right hand man. I really think in this race who they pick is going to be vital and the race could be decided with this one decision.

Who are you when no one is looking? We all do our best when others are watching. But what about when no one is looking? That's where character comes in, giving us consistency.
I say this because it’s important to understand the character of the candidate you hope to lead this country. The United States is a diverse place with millions of people that have many distinct ideologies and ethics. Recent events have brought to the forefront of national attention what people view as morally acceptable behavior for public officials. These events have also raised the question: What is the relationship between the personal character of our political leaders and their ability to govern wisely. I’ve recently realized that so much of my thinking is the direct outcome of how my parents raised me. Ideas they transmitted through discipline and conversation are ingrained in me. I was always taught to be proud of my country, have pride in the ideals that has made this country strong,and never do something that is morally wrong unless your willing to face up to it one day.
Throughout history, and particularly in the case of President Clinton, if the economy is doing well and the country is in a general state of security, most citizens are willing to look the other way on the morality of their leaders. I want my leaders to have a strong moral character, with a solid foundation of religion, but I also think that when it comes to carrying out the duties of an elected office, personal character and religion do not affect a person’s ability to govern wisely.
I feel Leaders everywhere no longer express as much confidence about the future as they once did. When they speak candidly, it often sounds as if they feel trapped in quicksand, unable to move forward easily. The methods and tools that helped them succeed in the past no longer work. The challenges they face — such as global competitiveness, health and environmental risks, or inadequate infrastructure — can no longer be solved by their organizations alone. And when they try to reach beyond the boundaries of their own corporation, government agency, or nongovernmental organization, there often is no clear pathway to success. Character is that inner strength that is needed to deal with crisis and change. I hope this year when it’s time to vote we vote with the sound mind that the person we voted for is true and of sound Character not just another smooth talker .
Once again I wrote a letter to the editor of the Austin Chronicle. Only a small part of him is African Black from his Luo grandmother, which he pretends he "is" exclusively.
What he isn't -- not a genetic drop of -- is 'African-American,' the descendant of enslaved Africans brought to America chained in slave ships. He hasn't a single ancestor who was a slave. Instead, his Arab ancestors were slave owners. Slave-trading was the main Arab business in East Africa for centuries until the British ended it.
Let that sink in: Obama is not the descendant of slaves, he is the descendant of slave owners. Thus he makes the perfect Liberal Messiah.
It's something even Hillary doesn't understand -- how some complete neophyte came out of the blue and stole the Dem nomination from her. Obamamania is beyond politics and reason. It is a true religious cult, whose adherents reject Christianity yet still believe in Original Sin, transferring it from the evil of being human to the evil of being white.
Thus Obama has become the white liberals' Christ, offering absolution from the Sin of Being White. There is no reason or logic behind it, no faults or flaws of his can diminish it, no arguments Hillary could make of any kind can be effective against it. The absurdity of Hypocrisy Clothed In Human Flesh being their Savior is all the more cause for liberals to worship him: Credo quia absurdum, I believe it because it is absurd.
Thank heavens that the voting majority of Americans remain Christian and are in no desperate need of a phony savior.

Dear Readers I have been following closely the attempt by Rep. Kucinich: who at one time was a presidential canditate. he has attempted to impeach President Bush but it is an Exercise in Futility. He may get some personal satisfaction from the hearings. I doubt that they will amount to much. Why do many of these disgruntled polititions turn at the last minute and try to impeach a president? He had Tried last year to Impeach Vice President Cheney. The attempt got no where. I will stand for a person exersizing his free speach rights . but so little time is left for the Bush Administration to be perecuted its a futile attempt and not proven true for sure.The Big news is that 84 yr .old Senator Stevens of Alaska has been indicted and arrested for having taking money and spent on fixing his home in Alaska , He was arrested yesterday and says he is innocent; remember innocent untill conviction.I do expect him to be punished if the allegations are true. Which at his age a large fine and return the lobby money and maybe a small jail sentenance due to his age at 84, this would be hard for the best of us in shape.there is bank speculation all week long that you can go the a web list and get a look at all banks even yours and it will tell you what financial shape your bank is in. I had not planned on becoming involved in the political brouhaha until after the opponents for president had been officially selected...........However, I feel that an observation at this time is appropriate, and that is that Senator Obama has somehow managed to shoot himself in the media foot and Senator McCain has begin to learn how to keep his foot out of his mouth.
In other words these two have somehow managed to spend millions of dollars and are running at a dead heat.
The Libertarians are looking to be a spoiler for both candidates and not having a chance for beating either of the two top dogs.
I really feel that this is time and money wasted by all and sundry, and come November, we will be psychological basket cases unless we stop watching the television and news media's with their talking heads and inept editors and start using our computers and common sense prior to casting their votes.
Media Delete Call For Civilian National Security Force from Speech Transcript.
"We cannot continue to rely on our military in order to achieve the national security objectives we've set. We've got to have a civilian national security force that's just as powerful, just as strong, just as well-funded."
These comments from a speech given on July 2nd have been noticeably removed from transcripts of the speech by the "Denver Post and "Wall Street Journal", fortunately the video is intact and available above.
Is this a National Security force or Obama’s Secret Police to impose the values and socialist goals of the Obama Administration on the American people? Obama needs to address this part of his speech instead of ignoring questions from reporters. This should send chills through all freedom loving Americans.

Three days after I wrote it BLEEP hit the fan! Everything I wrote
started to happen. President Bush announsed lifting the executive
drilling ban first thing Monday July 14th. Thus starting the ball
rolling. Oil prices started to drop due to new drilling prospects, and
the stock market started going up. I am pleased I was right. Then House
Speaker Pelosi backed my stance. And Sen. Barbra Boxer made the same
general comment I made about Bush the oil mogul. Coinciding with
