I don't know about you, but I was surprised to see our Texas boy, Jeremy Wariner get smoked last night by LaShawn Merritt in the 400 meter race. Wariner, who went to Baylor, was the favorite and won the gold in Athens. He walked away with the silver medal, but lost by almost a full second, and it was one of those long seconds. He has a pretty impressive record, you should look him up. That just goes to show, what kind of talent are in these games.
I've been watching the FOX 7 Football Field Trips this week. We've already been to Liberty Hills, Dripping Springs and Hutto. Still to come are LBJ, Hays, Westlake, Plugerville, Lake Travis and Stony Point. Click HERE for the official schedule.
I am relatively new to the Austin area and know NOTHING about the high schools around here. So, I checked out the ranking of the area schools on the FOX 7 SPORTS site, but I want to know what you guys think about the high schools in our area. Who is your favorite team? Who has the best band and cheerleaders?
Let me know so I can come out and shoot some special promos with YOUR team!
I have to admitt, I have never seen anyone run as fast I have seen Usain Bolt run in the Olympics. I have seen people that cocky before though, and to me it is a turn off. Taking 2 seconds off the 200 meter record is awesome, but what's wrong with this guy? Being excited, running around and celebrating is one thing, but in each of his wins when he was celebrating; I was saying to myself enough is enough. I probably was not the only who wanted to change the channel. It was a little ridiculous. Okay you're great, but you obviously already think so.
Congratulations Usain! NOW SEE YOU LATER!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I have to tell you, I AM GLAD FOOTBALL IS BACK!!!!!!!
I have to say, I wish the Cowboys were playing better, but I remember back in the day, they lost all their pre-season games and still won the Super Bowl, so I will wait to see what they do in the next couple weeks. The Boys will be in the playoffs.
Brett Favre had a great game, what can I say. He played just like Brett Farve. It's kind of weird to see him in another uniform, but it is really good to see him playing.
Did anyone see the Browns play the Giants? In the second quarter the Browns were down 30-3 and then Anderson got hurt. They put in Brady Quinn and the final score was 37-34 with the Giants winning. I have to say it was pretty impressive. Brady Quinn is going to be a really good quarterback if he can stay healthy. I still say the Browns are going to the playoffs this year.
And the Bengals re-sign Chris Henry after being fired and after being arrested five time since being with Cinncinati! Marvin Lewis, SHAME ON YOU! Let me guss, Jerry Jones didn't want Henry, WHAT A SURPRISE? Henry has been in jail enough, sounds like a Jones boy to me.
It's only still pre-season, but I am liking what I see, it looks like it is going to be a great year!!!!
If you have been watching the Olympic Boxing events, there is no doubt that there is a problem with the judges scoring. I know there have been punches that should of been scored, but weren't. There is obviously something wrong with the scoring, but there is also something wrong with some the U.S.A. boxers. Case in point, Luis Yanez from Duncanville Texas. For a boxer to complain that he was ripped off in the fight that he had Saturday with his opponent from Mogolia, is absurd. Yanez did not throw enough punches to think he landed more punches. I thought he was cocky and scared. Just like Teddy Atlas said, "he is only shadow boxing and needs to get in there and land some punches".
Get in there, work hard, and stop making excuses. The excuses made by him and some of the other boxers are more embarassing than their losses and the poor U.S. performance in the Olympic matches.
So I guess we can all sleep soundly now that the future of Bret Farve has been worked out.
Yes I think Farve is an excellent QB, but please all the hoopla and fawning over him like he's one of the greats? How many superbowls has he won? How many has he lost. He's over rated, had a great year last season but what about the season before that. He should not be mentioned in the same breath as a Bradshaw, Montana, even Aikman, these guys won multiple Super Bowls.
Do we have any Smackdown fans here? A couple of weeks ago it was the most watched Friday night program on TV.
I'm not too crazy about the Smackdown lineup since the "draft". I never did care for Triple H. To me he looks like he thinks if he smiled his balls would drop off.
Mr Kennedy has really come around. The crowd is eating him up. He's gonna make some money.
The Edge - Gurrero thing has drug out too long. They need to put it to sleep and start something else.
They need to find an angle for MVP. He's way too talented to just let him do the same thing week after week..
Jesse and Festus could be at the top if they knew how to work their angle. Jesse is a fine little wrestler and Festus is a load but the angle will kill them..
now a word from our sponsors..
Badman.
I first saw Brett Favre play quarterback when he was at Southern Miss and beat my Auburn Tigers. I had never seen a quarterback like Favre. Unfortunately my memories of that Favre are now overshadowed by the rediculous way he has held the Packers hostage thru this whole retirement ordeal. For several years Favre has wavered on calling it quits forcing the Packers to alter thier draft plans or aquire a suitable replacement thru free agency. Now he tearfully says good-bye so the Packers tell Aaron Rogers he's thier man only to have Favre change his mind and show up at training camp to cause a major distraction for the team that was one win away from the Super Bowl last year. Where did these reports come from of a 20 million dollar payoff to go away quietly?Does he really just want a trade and can't understand why the Packers won't deal him to a division rival? If Favre had just left Green Bay with class like Bart Starr, I'd still remember Favre for that great victory over Auburn

I can not be happier that football season is back. It is the only sport I need, if it were not for the NFL Network, I would be dead. It has been a very interesting off season. Of course with the whole Brett Farve thing. If were not for Brett, we would of talked about Chad Johnson or Pacman Jones or some player who got arrested a little more. Hopefully this week we will know what Favre's future holds. And let's not forget about the draft which will bring in a lot of great young talent. It looks as if this is going to be another great year, I can't wait!
I have listed a few predictions, I would not put any real money on any of these, but it would be fun to see how close I am at the end of the year. Some of these I think I am dead on, some of you might get some laughs.
* The Rams, the Falcon, the Dolphins and the Raiders will have at 6 wins in the regular season.
* The Seahwaks will have a lack luster year and will not be in the playoffs.
* The Packers will not be in the Playoffs.
*The Giants and the Patriot will not return to the Super Bowl.
*The Bills will have 8 or more wins in the regular season.
*The Browns, the Cardnals, and the Texans will be in the playoffs.
* The Chiefs, Broncos, Bears, Jets, Panthers, Niners, Bengals and the Bucs will be in the toilet.
*Coaching jobs that might be in jepordy at the end of the year. John Fox-Panthers, Marv Lewis-Bengals, John Gruden-Bucs, Mike Nolns-49ers, and Eric Mangini-Jets.
If I am close or way off, either way it will be fun to watch what happens. I will continue to share my opions throughout the season. Have fun watching your teams.
If the Packers are moving forward without Brett Favre, they really need to release him to whatever team wants to pick him up. I think Roger Goodell needs to step in there and make something happen. I think this getting silly and I am really starting to loose respect for the Packers orginization.
LET BRETT FAVRE PLAY WHEREVER HE WANTS TO GO!
The Longhorn football team reports for pre-season workouts on Sunday... and they'll be packing plenty of question marks as they roll their luggage into the Jester dorms.
No... I'm not worried about the RB situation. As long as Mack Brown's at UT, there will always be a couple talented backs to plug in (Vondrell McGee and Fozzy Whitaker will provide a solid 1-2 punch).
And no... I'm also not too concerned with John Chiles' playing time. Greg Davis will find plenty of ways to use him (think Ramonce Taylor without the off-field drama).
UT will miss Limas Sweed... but one of the the talented youngsters will step up to join Quan Cosby and Jordan Shipley. True Freshman Dan Buckner's already wearing the #4 jersey... and he's already flashed some skills that would make Limas and Roy Williams proud.
For me, the biggest question mark has to be the UT defense against the pass (big limb I'm out on, right)? The 'Horns gave up a school-record 278 passing yards per game last season... and lost three of four starters in the secondary. This year, they'll go against some of the nation's most prolific QBs (Chase Daniel, Graham Harrell, Todd Reesing, Sam Bradford, etc.). I know Will Muschamp is a great defensive mind... but he'll definitely earn that 425 grand in '08.
What do you guys think?
That's the result of a Swedish study. Just one more piece of ammunition when you break the news to your significant other that you're hitting the links on a Saturday morning.
Thank God for medical studies.
