Are these misconceptions or myths:

#1. Fill your tank in the morning
#2. Change your air filter
#3. Use premium fuel
#4. Pump up your tires
#5. To A/C or not to A/C
#6. Bolt-ons and pour-ins

Great graphic! Good tips too. Seems like several would be useful. Not sure about bolt ons or pour ins though.

Hummmmm let me guess.

#1 will make no difference

#2 Will only make a difference if it is totally clogged up and has not been changed for years to the point your engine is not getting any air anymore. Cleaning your air filter or changing it when it does get dirty might help it run a little better but you will never see any difference unless it is so clogged your engine is stuttering for air.

#3 will make no difference

#4 will make a difference and tires should be checked everyday before driving to make sure they are properly inflated. Low air pressure in tires will cause more friction on the road not to mention more wear and tear on the tires themselves.

#5 Driving in town at slower speeds or stopping at a red light will save gas with the A/C turned off but once on the highway windows need to be rolled up to reduce drag and make the car more aerodynamic which will save gas and if it is a hot day that means turning on the A/C to make that happen.

#6 Putting bolt on components and add in fuel gimmicks have always just been a bolt on and add in salesperson’s dream of selling something to people that have no clue. Not only will they have no effect at all but also in many cases they will be the cause of major damage to a car.

Then their bother the mechanic will love you when you bring your car in after it has ingested something that has burned out the rings and piston cylinders.

Not only will they not save gas they might cause you to have to spend a bundle on repairs.

Well I guess I was close enough according to the article. :-)
