I keep hearing sound bites from both sides of the political arena these days calling for lower gas prices. But neither side is willing to admit that the reason we are suffering from such high prices is there fault, and can be fixed overnight. Don't believe me? I have compiled what I feel are the two best explanations at the bottom of this post but for the sake of A.D.D. I will summarize the problem.
We have all heard of the stock market. There is also what is know as a futures market. This is useful for companies like Southwest Airlines when they buy their fuel in bulk for the next fiscal year. They have to make the agreement early on so that they can budget expenditures. They basically say I will pay you $120 for a barrel of gas next year. Even if gas is only $100 at the time of the purchase. So what happens in one year if gas actually cost $137 a barrel and not the predicted $120 a barrel? What happens is that Southwest got a really good deal.
This was all just an example to help illustrate how the futures market works. The actual cost of oil has nothing to do with the futures market... until now. Our government has made it possible for the futures market to determine what the cost of oil will be even if the supply and demand have not changed one bit. In fact we are actually producing more oil now than ever before without any dramatic increase in demand. Why is this being allowed? Because Wall street has it's dirty hands down the shirt of the US Government.
So to dumb down my whole argument let me say this. The real reason gas cost so much is because a bunch of greezy money hungry yuppies are selling the American People up BLEEP creek and the average American is too DUMB and LAZY TO DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT. Don't believe me here is a Rasmussen Poll from a Survey of 1,000 likely voters from June 13, 2008
In order to reduce the price of gas, should drilling be allowed in
offshore oil wells off the
coasts of California, Florida, and other
states?
Yes 67%
No 18%
Not Sure 15%
Still don't believe me?

Go
here to find out who to write a letter to. I am not going to tell you what to include in your letter. If you are still thick enough to think we can drill out of the high prices go right ahead. Luckily for the rest of us you are so lazy and stupid that you probably won't take time away from filling up your Hummer to write a simple letter.

I know that it is important to preserve our history. I know that the Governor's Mansion was a symbol to many people. For some it really stood for something. For me it stood for Rich Jerks running and ruining our country.
In our time of "Terrorist" and President's who lie to the American people (I am looking at you too Clinton), and 5 dollar gas, and forcibly installing democracies, do Governor's really need mansions? Don't we have something better to do with the money. How many museums are there in Austin? Here are a couple...
Arthouse at the Jones Center, Austin Children's Museum, Austin Museum of Art - Downtown, Austin Museum of Art, Austin Nature & Science Center, Austin Steam Train Association, Beverly S. Sheffield Education Center,Blanton Museum of Art, Bob Bullock Texas State History Museum, Butridge Gallery at the Dougherty Arts Center, Capitol Visitors Center, Center for American History, UT Austin, Elisabet Ney Museum, French Legation Museum, George Washington Carver Museum, German-Texan Heritage Society, Harry Ransom Humanities Research Center, Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center, Lyndon Baines Johnson Library and Museum, Mexic-Arte Museum, Neill-Cochran House Museum, O. Henry Museum, Pioneer Farm, Republic of Texas Museum, Texas Capitol, Texas Folklife, Texas Memorial Museum, Texas Military Forces Museum, Texas Music Museum, Texas State Cemetery, Umlauf Sculpture Garden & Museum, Westcave Preserve, Wild Basin Wilderness Preserve, Women & Their Work
I thought that government was supposed to reflect the people's will, and uphold their rights. I thought our politicians were supposed to be people like us and understand the plight of the common man. I don't have a Mansion. I don't need a Mansion. Nor does Rich, I mean Rick Perry, need a second Mansion. I think that we should bulldoze the sucker down. We could use the place as a public square for whipping politicians who lie, cheat, steal, bribe, bully, fake, their way into office. Sounds like a good idea to me.
Or we could spend hundreds of thousands of dollars to rebuild a useless building that only .001% of the population gives two farts about.
Am I way off base here or does anyone else care about giving over-privileged, perfect haired, silver tongued, "get on down the road", closet homosexual, a place kick up his $10,000 boots?

I have a upper respiratory infection. Yesterday I was standing in line
to buy groceries. I walked up to the checkout stand and there was a
cart with no person in front of me. I moved the cart aside and got in
line. About a minute later it was almost my turn when all of the sudden
the owner of the cart showed back up and wanted her place back in line.
I begrudgingly gave her spot back. She gave me some story
about her daughter and how she couldn't find her. The lady proceeded to load up the checkout with her stuff.

Hmmmmmmm. Looks like someone is going to throw a party. O... What is this? A
Lone Star card?
This lady is buying groceries for a party with foodstamps.
Poor people aren't allowed to party, especially rude poor people. I
wish I could throw a party, but I can't afford to. Like I said I was
sick so I took it upon myself to cough all over the food and
all over her back. Is that immature of me? Is that bad of me? Yes. But
I don't care. I am tired of America giving handouts to the stupid and lazy. Hopefully she was throwing a party for finding a job.
Does anyone look at Lone Star Card receipts to see if the purchases are legitimate? How does one get a Lone Star Card? Do my Tax dollars pay for these cards? Who is to blame for this? Is it the poor womans fault or the governments?
Give a man a fish and he eats for a day. Teach a man to fish and he eats for a lifetime. Give a man a Lone Star card and I pay for the mans fishes.

It has just come to my attention that KTBC FOX 7 Sports reporter John Hygh is a Dallas Mavericks basketball fan. Really? How can anyone be a Mavericks fan? I remember back in 2000 I was guilty of thinking hey this team might be good. Then they got knocked out of the playoffs year after year after year. I understand the concept of fair weather fan but after a while you gotta realize that sometimes the grass is greener in San Antonio. GO SPURS!!! I have several friends that are Maverick fans. Every year around this time I have to be careful not to bring up b-ball for fear that I might hurt their precious feelings. Here is an
blog excerpt from a good friend of mine..."Early prediction for next season? They fire Avery, Bring in somebody
else, keep the same basic team, by the all star break when they are
25-30, fire sale, for cap space and draft picks. I think Dirk will be
the only one standing when its all said and done." This of course was written before they fired Avery but I imagine that if that the rest of his prediction proves true the Mavs will be right where they are this year. GET RID OF DIRK... He is getting old and the Mavs gotta do something big to be a contender. Think Boston. That is all. Better luck next year. Man I hope the Spurs win tonight.

On Sunday, The New York Times
published an explosive report
exposing the Pentagon’s secret campaign to use analysts in order to
“generate favorable news coverage of the administration’s wartime
performance.” Since that time, TV news organizations have largely been
silent on their role in the propaganda. Ari Melber notes that last
night, PBS’s Newshour
finally broke this blackout, but couldn’t convince the other networks to participate:

I love the "race card" that is being played right now in the democratic party. From an outsiders perspective it looks like the Clinton Campaign is the one that keeps playing it. I absolutely am disgusted with politics today. I find that all of the people in office today are the same turds that wanted to be voted most popular... excuse me, "class president" back in grade school. The problem is partly that we have crusty old dudes like Pat Buchanan on TV spouting their uninformed racist views to a audience of uninformed out of touch crust old people. Old people who have nothing more to do than count the days until they will get the chance to free there lonely lifes and get out to vote. Old people love two things... Pat Buchanan and Voting. Oops I forget, they love Jesus too.

Bhutto returned to Pakistan on October 18, 2007, after reaching an understanding with President Pervez Musharraf. She was assassinated on December 27, 2007, after departing a PPP rally in the Pakistani city of Rawalpindi, two weeks before the scheduled Pakistani general election of 2008 where she was a leading opposition candidate.
This clip aired on 2nd November 2007. At 2:14 Bhutto calmly names Osama bin Ladens murderer. If you dig deeper you will find that in the rebroadcast of this interview cut out these statements altogether.

***WARNING, THIS IS REAL NEWS***
Major allegations of vote fraud in New Hampshire are circulating after Hillary Clinton reversed a mammoth pre-polling deficit to defeat Barack Obama with the aid of Diebold electronic voting machines, while confirmed votes for Ron Paul in the Sutton district were not even counted.
According to a voter in Sutton, New Hampshire, three of her family members voted for Ron Paul, yet when she checked the voting map on the Politico website, the total votes for Ron Paul were zero.
With 100% of precincts now reporting, politico.com's map still says zero votes for Ron Paul.
It's not as if Sutton had a handful of voters like some other districts - a total of 386 people voted yet we are led to believe that not one voted for Ron Paul? Judging by the Iowa results, around 10% of residents would be expected to vote for the Congressman, returning a total of around 38 votes in this district. Let's be ultra-conservative and say just 5% support Paul - he'd still get 19 votes - but he got absolutely none whatsoever. Is there something wrong with this picture?
Greenville also tallied 144 votes yet not one for Congressman Paul.
Anyone else in Sutton who voted for Ron Paul needs to go public immediately with the charge of vote fraud and make it known that they were cheated out of their right to vote.
Diebold voting machines also did Congressman Paul no favors last night - compared to hand counted ballots Giuliani gained just short of 0.5% from electronic voting whereas Paul lost over 2%, which was the difference between finishing 4th and 5th, as this graph documents.
Mitt Romney profited the most from the Diebold swing, he received 7% more votes compared to hand counted ballots.
In the Democratic race the Diebold voting machines clearly swung the primary in Hillary Clinton's favor at the expense of Barack Obama, who had a commanding lead over the New York Senator going into the contest.
Zogby polling numbers had Obama leading Clinton by a whopping 42/29 per cent, yet Clinton eventually took the primary by three per cent.
"If I was Barack Obama, I'd certainly not have conceded this election this quickly," writes The Brad Blog. "I'm not quite sure what he was thinking. And as far as offering an indication of whether he understands how these systems work, and the necessity of making sure that votes are counted, and counted accurately, it does not offer a great deal of confidence at this hour."
"While I have no evidence at this time --- let me repeat, no evidence at this time --- of chicanery, what we do know is that chicanery, with this particular voting system, is not particularly difficult. Particularly when one private company --- and a less-than-respectable one at that, as I detailed in the previous post --- runs the entire process."
Clinton would not have beat Obama without the aid of Diebold voting machines. In precincts where electronic voting machines were used, Clinton got a 7% swing over Obama, having gained 5% in comparison to hand-counted ballots and Obama losing 2%.
As we reported yesterday, the contract for programming all of New Hampshire's Diebold voting machines, which combined counted 81 per cent of the vote yesterday, is owned by LHS Associates, whose owner John Silvestro has gone to great lengths to deflect accusations that the machines can easily be rigged.
After purchasing a Diebold 1.94w machine, the same system used in New Hampshire, a computer repair shop employee picked at random by Black Box Voting was able to zero in on the system's vulnerable memory card within just ten minutes. Hacking expert Harri Hursti testified in front of the New Hampshire legislature that the machines were wide open to fraud.
Watch and learn.

Alright here goes. Everybody's
doing it. Here is my list of 2007's Best Stuff. Keep in mind that this
list is comprised of what I think is best not what you think. Ha.
Best MovieRatatouilleI haven't seen many new films this year. Sure I went to see Transformers and Spiderman like everyone else, but this CGI
movie was great. The movie is fun children and adults. I was
entertained from start to finish. It teaches one of life's greatest
lessons, don't give up and follow your dreams, it doesn't matter where
you come from. While so many other CGI moves fall flat trying to recreate the success of Toy Story and Shrek, Ratatouille gives the audience a great story and fun characters. (Runner up... King of Kong/ Superbad)
Best AlbumFeist
The Reminder
I
can't describe how important music is in my life. I love this album. I
listen to it all the time. Almost daily. I have always preferred
listening to male vocalist. There were always exceptions like Joni
Mitchell, Bjork, Cat Power. Now you can add Feist
to the short list. I heard snippets over and over in commercials that
were overplayed and I still love the album. The album seduces me every time into listening to
the whole thing. Simple, elegant, beautiful, Feist. (Runner up... St Vincent, Marry Me /Radiohead, In Rainbows)

First let us postulate that the computer scientists succeed in developing
intelligent machines that can do all things better than human beings can
do them. In that case presumably
all work will be done by vast, highly organized systems of machines and
no human effort will be necessary. Either of two cases might occur. The
machines might be permitted to make all of their own decisions without
human oversight, or else human control over the machines might be retained.
If the machines are permitted to make all their own decisions, we can't
make any conjectures as to the results, because it is impossible to guess
how such machines might behave. We only point out that the fate of the
human race would be at the mercy of the machines. It might be argued that
the human race would never be foolish enough to hand over all the power
to the machines. But we are suggesting neither that the human race would
voluntarily turn power over to the machines nor that the machines would
willfully seize power. What we do suggest is that the human race might
easily permit itself to drift into a position of such dependence on the
machines that it would have no practical choice but to accept all of the
machines' decisions. As society and the problems that face it become more
and more complex and machines become more and more intelligent, people
will let machines make more of their decisions for them, simply because
machine-made decisions will bring better results than man-made ones. Eventually
a stage may be reached at which the decisions necessary to keep the system
running will be so complex that human beings will be incapable of making
them intelligently. At that stage the machines will be in effective control.
People won't be able to just turn the machines off, because they will be so
dependent on them that turning them off would amount to suicide.
On the other hand it is possible that human control over the machines may
be retained. In that case the average man may have control over certain
private machines of his own, such as his car or his personal computer,
but control over large systems of machines will be in the hands of a tiny
elite - just as it is today, but with two differences. Due to improved
techniques the elite will have greater control over the masses; and because
human work will no longer be necessary the masses will be superfluous,
a useless burden on the system. If the elite is
ruthless they may simply decide to exterminate the mass of humanity. If
they are humane they may use propaganda or other psychological or biological
techniques to reduce the birth rate until the mass of humanity becomes
extinct, leaving the world to the elite. Or, if the elite consists of
soft-hearted
liberals, they may decide to play the role of good shepherds to the rest
of the human race. They will see to it that everyone's physical needs are
satisfied, that all children are raised under psychologically hygienic
conditions, that everyone has a wholesome hobby to keep him busy, and that
anyone who
may become dissatisfied undergoes "treatment" to cure his "problem." Of
course, life will be so purposeless that people
will have to be biologically or psychologically engineered either to remove
their need for the power process or make them "sublimate" their drive for
power into some harmless hobby. These engineered human beings may be happy
in such
a society, but they will most certainly not be free. They will have been
reduced to the status of domestic animals.
