1. THE MYTH: "She took the luxury jet that was acquired by her predecessor and sold it on eBay. And made a profit!" — John McCain, at a campaign stop in Wisconsin

THE FACTS: No one bought the jet online. It was eventually sold through an aircraft broker — at a loss to taxpayers of nearly $600,000.

2. THE MYTH: "I told the Congress 'Thanks, but no thanks' on that Bridge to Nowhere." — Sarah Palin, convention speech

THE FACTS: Supported the infamous pork project in her 2006 run for governor, even after Congress had killed the bridge; derided its opponents as "spinmeisters." Reversed her stance a year later — but kept the money, doling out the $223 million in federal funds to other pork projects throughout the state.

3. THE MYTH: "We ... championed reform to end the abuses of earmark spending by Congress." — Sarah Palin, convention speech

THE FACTS: As mayor, employed a lobbyist who also worked for Jack Abramoff to secure $27 million in pork spending for Wasilla — more than $4,000 per resident. In her two years as governor, requested $453 million in earmarks. Alaska ranks first in the nation for pork, raking in seven times the national average.

4. THE MYTH: "I found ... someone who stopped government from wasting taxpayers' money." — John McCain, introducing Palin

THE FACTS: Signature accomplishment as mayor: building a $15 million hockey arena that plunged the city into debt. Broke ground on the project without finalizing the city's purchase of the land; the resulting fiasco cost Wasilla $1.3 million — roughly $200 per resident.

5. THE MYTH: "Our opponents say, again and again, that drilling will not solve all of America's energy problems — as if we didn't know that already." — Sarah Palin, convention speech

THE FACTS: "I beg to disagree with any candidate who would say we can't drill our way out of our problem." — Sarah Palin, July 2008

6. THE MYTH: "We began a nearly $40 billion natural-gas pipeline to help lead America to energy independence." — Sarah Palin, convention speech

THE FACTS: With federal approval years away, not a single section of the pipeline has been laid. State could end up paying the pipeline's contractor $500 million — even if it never breaks ground on the project.

7. THE MYTH: "She's from a small town with small-town values." — Fred Thompson, convention speech

THE FACTS: Wasilla and the surrounding valley recently named the meth capital of Alaska, with 42 meth labs busted in a single year.

8. THE MYTH: Palin has "taken on the political establishment in the largest state of the union." — Fred Thompson, convention speech

THE FACTS: Served until 2005 as director of fundraising group associated with indicted senator Ted Stevens.

9. THE MYTH: "She's fought oil companies." — John McCain, introducing Palin

THE FACTS: Collected $13,000 in campaign contributions from oil and gas lobbyists, including Exxon, BP, Shell and Chevron. BP was a sponsor of her inaugural ball.

10. THE MYTH: "She's been to Kuwait. She's been over there. She has been with her troops. The National Guard that she commands, who have been over there and had the experience." — John McCain, highlighting Palin's national-security credentials

THE FACTS: Never had a passport before 2007, when she made a brief photo-op trip to visit troops in Germany and Kuwait. Has never been to Iraq, and has not met a single foreign head of state.

11. THE MYTH: "I have protected the taxpayers by vetoing wasteful spending." — Sarah Palin, convention speech

THE FACTS: As governor, sought travel reimbursement for 312 nights she spent in her own home.

Massive fluctuations in the stock market are signaling economic unrest at home and around the globe. On September 15th, the stock market dropped over 500 points - the largest point drop since 9/11. The Federal Reserve's recent bailouts of Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, and AIG have already cost American taxpayers hundreds of billions of dollars, and the price may ultimately be in the trillions. What's the Federal Reserve? It is an unelected, government-licensed monopoly that inflates the supply of dollars in our economy.

The mortgage crisis and the current economic turmoil is a direct result of the Federal Reserve's artificial lowering of interest rates - which spurred major banks and other corporations to back bad mortgages. And the bills are now coming due. With each new bailout, you are forced to take on the liabilities of Wall Street, all while the value of your paycheck decreases due to the inflationary policies of the Federal Reserve.

What are our leaders in Congress doing about it?
"No one knows what to do...." - Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (Bloomberg.com, "Democratic Congress May Adjourn, Leave Crisis to Fed, Treasury," September 18, 2008) Now, Treasury Secretary Henry Paulson (former CEO of Goldman Sachs) and Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke want American taxpayers to take on $700 billion in bad mortgage-related assets.

Is there a solution?
America became the greatest, most prosperous nation in history through low taxes, constitutionally-limited government, personal freedom, and a belief in sound money. The way out of this current financial crisis is to return to those timeless principles:

1.) End the Bailouts - The Federal Reserve's authority to use taxpayer money to bail out Wall Street must be revoked and the Fed must be held accountable.

2.) Stop Congress' Reckless Spending - We must freeze all non-entitlement spending by the federal government at current levels and eliminate wasteful spending both domestically and in our trillion-dollar overseas budget.

3.) Cut Taxes - If Wall Street can be given your tax dollars, shouldn't you get some back? It's time to cut taxes and return your money to you. Combined with spending reform, this will increase the purchasing power of our dollars and help lessen the economic storm.

4.) Reform the Monetary System - If we are to have long-term economic progress, we must end the system of printing money out of thin air. The current laws limiting the circulation of gold and silver-backed currency must be overturned.

What can I do?

Contact your representative and senator today and let them know that it is time to end the Federal Reserve's stranglehold on our economic future! Ask them to reject the Paulson and Bernanke plan to prop up reckless banks at your expense.

I have been watching the coverage of the aftermath of Hurricane Ike and something is bothering me. My family has two separate groups of people that we know that reside in the area effected by the hurricane. My cousins live in Houston and a some friends of the family live in Galveston. These two families are middle class households. As the destruction was making it's way toward Texas these two families made arrangements with family members such as my family and other people that were more than happy to help out. The family that lives in Galveston was hit much harder than the Houston family. Their house was flooded with 2 feet of water. This weekend we are all going to help out in anyway that we can. Help with clean up, recovery, rooms, food, we are going to help out because they are our friends and loved ones.

With all of this being said. Why do poor people not have any family to help them? Why don't poor people have anyone who love them? Why are people evacuating to gym's and school's and not to a brothers, cousins, good friends, parents houses? Do poor people not have anyone to fall back on? Why is this? The evacuees that I know had many alternatives to camping with a bunch of strangers. We took care of them. We helped them out. Why don't poor people have anyone to help them out? Why do poor people expect their government to bail them out? When did it become the governments job to take care of people too lazy or stupid to help out themselves. Why do we help people who don't help others? Why do we help people who are so self absorbed that no one cares enough about them that they would rather let them drown or starve then help them out?

I understand when people have no place else to turn. Senior citizens who don't have any family left or recent immigrants with no family in this country would be an exemption. Help those people out. Why are we enabling poor people? Why should I care about people who care don't care about me? Why should anyone care about people who don't care about anyone other than themselves? Well we should do it because we are not as selfish as the losers that we are bailing out. We should do it because we are better than they are. We should do it because if we don't they will riot and destroy the system that we created in an effort to help them.

To wrap up... I hate poor people but I help them anyway. Why? Because someone has to do it and I sure isn't going to be someone dumb enough to work for minimum wage.  When I am in need of some help I won't be going to FEMA I will be going to Family.  We take care of our own.  I wish that poor people could do the same.  I guess if they could they wouldn't be poor.

While the media focuses on the antics of McCain's chosen VP battleground states are purging their voter rolls.

Colorado dumped ONE FIFTH of all voter registrations -- the largest in history

Florida is refusing to accept 85,000 new registrants -- overwhelmingly blacks.

New Mexico: purged half of the democrats in Mora county (Hispanics) and 600.000 mailers were returned

Ohio & Nevada are scrubbing tens of 1000s of voters who lost their homes to foreclosures
(Kerry lost by a mere 10-votes per district in Ohio)

THE MEDIA NEEDS TO COVER THIS STORY...

I keep hearing sound bites from both sides of the political arena these days calling for lower gas prices. But neither side is willing to admit that the reason we are suffering from such high prices is there fault, and can be fixed overnight.   Don't believe me?  I have compiled what I feel are the two best explanations at the bottom of this post but for the sake of A.D.D. I will summarize the problem.

We have all heard of the stock market.  There is also what is know as a futures market.  This is useful for companies like Southwest Airlines when they buy their fuel in bulk for the next fiscal year.  They have to make the agreement early on so that they can budget expenditures.  They basically say I will pay you $120 for a barrel of gas next year.  Even if gas is only $100 at the time of the purchase.  So what happens in one year if gas actually cost $137 a barrel and not the predicted $120 a barrel?  What happens is that Southwest got a really good deal.

This was all just an example to help illustrate how the futures market works.   The actual cost of oil has nothing to do with the futures market... until now.  Our government has made it possible for the futures market to determine what the cost of oil will be even if the supply and demand have not changed one bit.  In fact we are actually producing more oil now than ever before without any dramatic increase in demand.  Why is this being allowed?  Because Wall street has it's dirty hands down the shirt of the US Government.

So to dumb down my whole argument let me say this.  The real reason gas cost so much is because a bunch of greezy money hungry yuppies are selling the American People up crap creek and the average American is too DUMB and LAZY TO DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT.  Don't believe me here is a Rasmussen Poll from a Survey of 1,000 likely voters from June 13, 2008

In order to reduce the price of gas, should drilling be allowed in offshore oil wells off the
coasts of California, Florida, and other states?

Yes               67%
No                 18%
Not Sure      15%

Still don't believe me?

Write a letter to your government telling them how you feel about making the rich richer...
Go here to find out who to write a letter to.  I am not going to tell you what to include in your letter.  If you are still thick enough to think we can drill out of the high prices go right ahead.  Luckily for the rest of us you are so lazy and stupid that you probably won't take time away from filling up your Hummer to write a simple letter.

I know that it is important to preserve our history.  I know that the Governor's Mansion was a symbol to many people.  For some it really stood for something.  For me it stood for Rich Jerks running and ruining our country.

In our time of  "Terrorist" and President's who lie to the American people (I am looking at you too Clinton), and 5 dollar gas, and forcibly installing democracies, do Governor's really need mansions?  Don't we have something better to do with the money.  How many museums are there in Austin?  Here are a couple...

Arthouse at the Jones Center, Austin Children's Museum, Austin Museum of Art - Downtown, Austin Museum of Art, Austin Nature & Science Center, Austin Steam Train Association, Beverly S. Sheffield Education Center,Blanton Museum of Art, Bob Bullock Texas State History Museum, Butridge Gallery at the Dougherty Arts Center, Capitol Visitors Center, Center for American History, UT Austin, Elisabet Ney Museum, French Legation Museum, George Washington Carver Museum, German-Texan Heritage Society, Harry Ransom Humanities Research Center, Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center, Lyndon Baines Johnson Library and Museum, Mexic-Arte Museum, Neill-Cochran House Museum, O. Henry Museum, Pioneer Farm, Republic of Texas Museum, Texas Capitol, Texas Folklife, Texas Memorial Museum, Texas Military Forces Museum, Texas Music Museum, Texas State Cemetery, Umlauf Sculpture Garden & Museum, Westcave Preserve, Wild Basin Wilderness Preserve, Women & Their Work

I thought that government was supposed to reflect the people's will, and uphold their rights.  I thought our politicians were supposed to be people like us and understand the plight of the common man.  I don't have a Mansion.  I don't need a Mansion.  Nor does Rich, I mean Rick Perry, need a second Mansion.  I think that we should bulldoze the sucker down.  We could use the place as a public square for whipping politicians who lie, cheat, steal, bribe, bully, fake, their way into office.  Sounds like a good idea to me.

Or we could spend hundreds of thousands of dollars to rebuild a useless building that only .001% of the population gives two farts about.

Am I way off base here or does anyone else care about giving over-privileged, perfect haired, silver tongued, "get on down the road", closet homosexual, a place kick up his $10,000 boots?

I have a upper respiratory infection. Yesterday I was standing in line to buy groceries. I walked up to the checkout stand and there was a cart with no person in front of me. I moved the cart aside and got in line. About a minute later it was almost my turn when all of the sudden the owner of the cart showed back up and wanted her place back in line. I begrudgingly gave her spot back. She gave me some story about her daughter and how she couldn't find her. The lady proceeded to load up the checkout with her stuff.

Hmmmmmmm. Looks like someone is going to throw a party. O... What is this? A Lone Star card? This lady is buying groceries for a party with foodstamps. Poor people aren't allowed to party, especially rude poor people. I wish I could throw a party, but I can't afford to. Like I said I was sick so I took it upon myself to cough all over the food and all over her back. Is that immature of me? Is that bad of me? Yes. But I don't care. I am tired of America giving handouts to the stupid and lazy. Hopefully she was throwing a party for finding a job.

Does anyone look at Lone Star Card receipts to see if the purchases are legitimate? How does one get a Lone Star Card? Do my Tax dollars pay for these cards? Who is to blame for this? Is it the poor womans fault or the governments?

Give a man a fish and he eats for a day. Teach a man to fish and he eats for a lifetime. Give a man a Lone Star card and I pay for the mans fishes.

On Sunday, The New York Times published an explosive report exposing the Pentagon’s secret campaign to use analysts in order to “generate favorable news coverage of the administration’s wartime performance.” Since that time, TV news organizations have largely been silent on their role in the propaganda. Ari Melber notes that last night, PBS’s Newshour finally broke this blackout, but couldn’t convince the other networks to participate:

I love the "race card" that is being played right now in the democratic party. From an outsiders perspective it looks like the Clinton Campaign is the one that keeps playing it. I absolutely am disgusted with politics today. I find that all of the people in office today are the same turds that wanted to be voted most popular... excuse me, "class president" back in grade school. The problem is partly that we have crusty old dudes like Pat Buchanan on TV spouting their uninformed racist views to a audience of uninformed out of touch crust old people. Old people who have nothing more to do than count the days until they will get the chance to free there lonely lifes and get out to vote. Old people love two things... Pat Buchanan and Voting.  Oops I forget, they love Jesus too.

Bhutto returned to Pakistan on October 18, 2007, after reaching an understanding with President Pervez Musharraf. She was assassinated on December 27, 2007, after departing a PPP rally in the Pakistani city of Rawalpindi, two weeks before the scheduled Pakistani general election of 2008 where she was a leading opposition candidate.

This clip aired on 2nd November 2007. At 2:14 Bhutto calmly names Osama bin Ladens murderer.  If you dig deeper you will find that in the rebroadcast of this interview cut out these statements altogether.

I think that Bin Laden has bit the bullet.  There is no proof that he is alive.

Using my thinking goo that sits between my ears I did some research or rather found someone else's and found out 10 things you may not know about Gardasil. The original article can be found here.

1. The vaccine only decreases your chances of getting cervical cancer, it doesn’t eliminate the risk.

Straight from gardasil.com:

“HPV Types 16 and 18 cause 70% of cervical cancer cases.

GARDASIL may not fully protect everyone and does not prevent all types of cervical cancer, so it is important to continue regular cervical cancer screenings.” Merck is upfront with this information; they don't try to hide it or spin it. But with all of the media coverage and information floating around about the "100% effective cancer vaccine", it's helpful to remember that Gardasil is only 100% effective at doing what it is supposed to do, which is preventing certain specific types of HPV, not preventing all cervical cancer.

2. Even without the vaccine, the number of cervical cancer cases is trending downward and has been for years.

The Gardasil commercials refer to "thousands of women" being diagnosed with cervical cancer in the U.S. each year, which is true, but they don't put that number into context. “Cervical cancer has gone from being one of the top killers of American women to not even being on the top 10 list. This year cervical cancer will represent just 1 percent of the 679,510 new cancer cases and 1 percent of the 273,560 anticipated cancer deaths among American women. By contrast, some 40,970 women will die of breast cancer and 72,130 will die of lung cancer. According to the American Cancer Society, "'Between 1955 and 1992, the number of cervical cancer deaths in the United States dropped by 74 percent.' Think about it: 74 percent.” So Merck wants parents to have their pre-teen and teenage daughters vaccinated. But if current trends continue, by the time these girls are old enough to be at risk, how big will the risk really be? Check out the government's statistics on cervical cancer for yourself at the National Cancer Institute website.

3. Gardasil is one of the most expensive vaccines ever, at about $360 for the series of three shots, plus the cost of doctor visits.

Call me cynical, but I can’t help but think about how much money Merck stands to make from this if they can manage to convince all young women and all parents of young girls that this vaccine is a necessity. And while we’re at it, call me a conspiracy theorist too for wondering if maybe Merck just might be exaggerating the cervical cancer risk by a lot in order to scare young women and mothers into buying their product. "'We're seeing a fairly remarkable uptake of Gardasil,' said Rick Haupt of Merck & Co., which reported sales of the vaccine had reached $70 million, exceeding analysts' projections.” Gardasil is a cash cow. The revenue stream is big now, with the potential to get much bigger. This is especially important for Merck, which is still dealing with the scandal surrounding their pain medication Vioxx, which they had to withdraw from the market in 2004 after it was found to increase the long-term risk of heart attack and stroke in patients who took it regularly. Thousands of lawsuits have been filed by former Vioxx patients. Vaccines like Gardasil are needed to provide the constant stream of cash that will help Merck to recover from Vioxx. “Merck, struggling since the 2004 recall of its blockbuster pain pill Vioxx, has staked its turnaround in part on vaccines. They accounted for $1.1 billion of its $22 billion in revenue last year, or 5 percent, the highest share since at least 1995."

4. While we're on the subject of liability, lawsuits, and profits, there's another angle to consider.

If Merck can get state governments to put Gardasil on their lists of vaccines that are required for schoolchildren, it can become a part of a federal vaccine liability program. Meaning that Merck will not be liable if Gardasil turns out to be harmful some time in the future. If I felt like being cynical again, I might think that this is one of the reasons why a vaccine for a sexually transmitted disease is being marketed not just to young women who are having sex or are going to become sexually active soon, but also to girls as young as nine. There’s a hell of a lot more stability and profitability in a required childhood vaccine than there would be in an optional vaccine meant only for young women. It's important to remember that no matter how many feel-good, we're all in this fight together and we're just doing this out of the goodness of our hearts ad campaigns they run, drug companies are not non-profit organizations. They are in this to make money and a lot of it, and while that doesn't mean that all prescription drugs are harmful and horrible or that all doctors are evil, it does mean that when it comes to our health, we probably shouldn't take anything at face value.

5. There have been no long-term studies done on the effect of the vaccine after 5-10 or more years, and testing on young girls has been extremely limited.

“Merck has tested the cervical cancer vaccine in clinical trials of more than 20,000 women (about half of them got the shot). The health of the subjects was followed for about three and a half years on average. But fewer than 1,200 girls under 16 got the shots, among them only about 100 9-year-olds, Merck officials said, and the younger girls have been followed for only 18 months." If parents are expected to take their daughters to get a series of expensive immunizations, wouldn’t it be nice if they had any idea at all about what effects these girls might have to deal with 5 or 10 years down the line? If you're wondering what the rush was, part of the answer could be patents. When a company's patent on a particular drug expires, that's when generic versions of the drug can be developed and released into the market, which obviously drives the price and the profits of the original drug way down. Merck's patent on the extremely profitable cholesterol drug Zocor expired in June of this year, and Gardasil is one of the new drugs being counted on to bridge Merck's financial gap. According to the FDA, Merck filed an application for a patent extension for Gardasil on December 6th.

6. It is unknown how long the immunity provided by Gardasil actually lasts.

“Public health officials want to vaccinate girls early, before they become sexually active, even though it is not known how long the immunity will last.”

“Tests show that the vaccine lasts at least four years. Long-term results aren't known yet.”

And straight from the FDA:

“The duration of immunity following a complete schedule of immunization with GARDASIL has not been established.”
So if I do decide that it’s worth the risks to my hypothetical nine year old and that I should go ahead and give her the vaccine, in the end I don’t even know if it will do her any good at all by the time she actually becomes sexually active.

7. The studies done on Gardasil were not set up to investigate whether the vaccine itself has the potential to cause cancer.

“GARDASIL has not been evaluated for the potential to cause carcinogenicity or genotoxicity.”

car·cin·o·gen
n. Any substance or agent that tends to produce a cancer.

ge·no·tox·in
n. A chemical or other agent that damages cellular DNA, resulting in mutations or cancer.

8. Gardasil is one of many vaccines containing aluminum, and there is increasing evidence suggesting that aluminum-based vaccines can have harmful effects.

Aluminum is a neurotoxin and the aluminum in vaccines can potentially reach the brain. Since the list of required childhood vaccines is only getting longer over time, children are being exposed to doses of aluminum that may exceed what their bodies are capable of managing. Aluminum in vaccines has been linked to a variety of neurological disorders, including Alzheimer’s, although a lot more research is needed. It's also interesting to note that according to the FDA, Merck tested Gardasil along with the Hepatitis B vaccine (currently on the required list), to make sure that there were no negative effects to administering both vaccines during the same doctor's visit. The tests showed no apparent problems. However, the hepatitis vaccine was the only one that was tested, so it is unknown whether any of the other required childhood vaccines could be potentially harmful when combined with Gardasil. There was also no information in any of the studies about what adding Gardasil to the required list would do to the cumulative aluminum levels in children's bodies.

9. Gardasil is only for women.

"Boys would not have to be vaccinated, although they can get HPV. There are no HPV tests for men. The vaccine has not yet been tried on men." Men can get HPV. Men can give HPV to their partners. Men can get genital warts from HPV. Men can get cancer from HPV. (80% of HPV-related cancers affect women, but the other 20% include penile and anal cancers affecting men). Apparently, when Gardasil went before an FDA panel for approval, Merck asked the panel to approve the vaccine for boys also, even though they have not done the same amount of testing on boys as they have on girls. "Merck asked the committee to endorse vaccination of boys age 9 to 15, too. Urging them not to wait for ongoing studies to end, it said evidence shows Gardasil can prevent some male cancers and may slow the spread of sexually transmitted HPV. 'By delaying three-plus years, we could have an additional 100,000 [cancer] cases that could have otherwise been avoided,' Barr told the committee. But panel members didn't vote on the request, calling the idea compelling but unproven." It seems to me that we need to spend more time researching HPV in men and boys, not less time. And it would be nice to feel like Merck was taking this issue seriously and not just tacking it on as a "me too" measure in order to get approval more quickly. On the flip side, it's a positive step that more research on HPV in men is now being done. Maybe they'll even change their minds and decide that it is worthwhile to develop a male HPV test after all. They could probably share a lab with the researchers who are hard at work on that male birth control pill we've been hearing about for years.

10. The bottom line: Don't get this vaccine just because your doctor/mom/sister/friend/a perky TV commercial told you to.

It’s your health, your decision. Do your own research and accept no guilt trips. My own mom wanted me to consider getting the vaccine (it is also being recommended for sexually active young women, even though it will probably do us—well, do evil slutty me anyway—no good), but she encouraged me to research it first, so I did. When I told her what I had found out, she agreed with my decision not to get it.

Most people would love to hear the gory details surrounding Anna Nicole's recent passing. You know what I say... I don't care, I never did, never will. I didn't know her, or her dead son or her lawyer, or the butcher the baker or candle stick maker. She is not news, she has no business being on the news and, and I am disgusted with News Media outlets like KTBC FOX 7 for making her death a top story. 100's of people die each day all of them more noble, interesting, and newsworthy. Television news has forgotten what is important, and no it's not making money. That is what the other 18 hours of daily programming is for. People who are that interested in this pathetic persons life(death) need to get one of their own.

Did you know that the light brights or "bombs" that recently were discovered in cities like Boston and others around the US were up for over a week without any "terror scare." Did you know that? Did you? A week! If law officials can't tell the difference between a cartoon character giving you the bird and a terrorist we got big problems. Fear. Everybody run were all gonna die. The light brights are coming to get us. Crusty old fart's run this country with their blinders on without a lick of common sense.
